Abstract:Based on the study on important landscape design cases along Shanghai Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek waterfront area during the historical development period, the paper tries to find and conclude the design pattern and regularity of Shanghai waterfront landscape space, and the relationship between development of urban waterfront space and urban culture. This study indicates that the waterfront landscape space of Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek have experienced four important periods of the Landscript Space, Hydrologic Space, Humanity Space and Intertextual Space. From multi-perspectives of interests, the waterfront landscape space is becoming more open and diversified.
